Srinagar 03/Dec/19: Expressing Serious Concern over an alarming graph of crime against Women across India, Socio-Political Activist and Seminarian Syed Karar Hashmi from Central Kashmir Ganderbal has demanded exemplary Capital punishment on the rape and murder of a Veterinary Doctor Dr Priyanka Reddy that took place in the outskirts of Hydrabad. 
Karar Hashmi said in a Press statement that We are failing, as a societ at the end of every passing day and now time demands strict laws like capital punishment or stoned to death for such heinous crimes committed on daily basis across country. My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the agonized commentary in the wake of the Hyderabad case reflects the fear that laws and existing measures are not enough to dealt with such henious day to day episodes against women. Women in the Country are struggling hard against inequalities, discriminations, injustices and for rights amid tough and challenging environment. Several movements against women atrocities and violence raised by feminist organizations in the state are enough to understand the plight of the problem at ground. She lives in a great fear, uncertainty and chaos in such a state, were accused rapist and murderer of different cases are still enjoying impunity and roaming without fear. We have left no stone unturned to project the image of women living in India as empowering and in a transitional phase, but it is all in papers only. The slogan of international conferences, summits, voluntary organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is directly related to issues of injustice with women as the central theme to act. Despite all of these efforts, the atrocities like dowry deaths, sexual harassment, female feticide, molestation, rape, women trafficking, domestic violence etc continues alarmingly in each and every corner of India. Women being treated as the second sex in material terms and is quite often denied political, economic and cultural rights.
Deeply saddened by the mishap in outskirts of Hyderabad and people of the entire country is waiting for the Stern action to be initiated against culprit hastly with an aim to sending message across the table. How anybody could subject another human being to such terrible, unprovoked violence is beyond imagination. Our thoughts & prayers are with the victim’s family at this time of immense grief.
Syed Karar Hashmi added that we requesting National Commission for Women (NCW) to kindly investigate this case in all dimensions and take appropriate action in the matter.
