Karma Yogi Shri H.K.Chaudhary:
Shri Hari Krishna Chaudhary is an Indian businessman, philanthropist and a humanitarian who has been devotedly working towards uplifting the society for the past 4 decades. He has touched and changed the lives of millions through his efforts and contributions in the field of education and poverty alleviation.
He firmly believes that access to education not only transforms an individual’s life and future but that of the country too. His life’s philosophy is to ensure that every person is educated and every child is able to realize his potential to the fullest. He has bestowed the gift of education on many, with special focus on educating the girl child. A continuous and ambitious effort by him in this field has made many people view education as an agent and instrument of social change and development. Shri Chaudhary’s altruistic deeds have earned him immense respect and admiration across the country.
Born on 4 December 1943, Shri Chaudhary graduated from BITS Pilani in 1961 and founded Vikram Group of Industries in1974. With a global footprint in more than 32 countries, Vikram Group today has more than 4000 employees. The Group has business interests in diverse areas including engineering, textiles, solar energy, floriculture, to name a few.
With an aim to fulfil his dream of an empowered India, he established BRHD Charitable Trust in the year 1977. The Trust heralded its educational initiatives through BRCM Education Society (BRCM ES) which was established in 1987. Under the able guidance of Shri H.K. Chaudharyji, BRCM Public School Gyankunj, BRCM Public School Vidyagram, BRCM College of Engg. & Technology, GDC Memorial College, BRCM Law College, BRCM Skill Development Training Centre, RDNL Vidya Mandir and Nanhe Kadam, a free school is flourishing under the banner of BRCM Education Society, which provides education from K.G. to P.G. at Bahal. Altogether, more than 5000 students are getting education from school education to higher education in various educational institutions which are located at Bahal.
Established in 2017, the BHCT is running BRCM Skill Development & Training Centre (BRCM SDTC) an exclusive centre to train people to become skilled & employable in different fields by conducting various short term courses under GOI PMKVY & GOH Schemes along with many other need-based Co-Certified courses. BRCM Digital Learning Centre and BRCM Tailoring Learning Centre were also added to BRCM SDTC in 2018. Recently in 2019, “Satrangi” a BRCM Apparel Unit was established as Production Unit for various types of garments with 90 Electronic Sewing Machines which will provide jobs to rural women of Bahal and adjoining area.
Shri Chaudhary is also founder Trustee and Chairman of Kalyan Bharti Trust, Kolkata, which had set up six institutions with an aim to create a centre of excellence in Education. The Trust established The Heritage School in June, 2001 and subsequently established Institutions for Engineering (Heritage Institute of Technology), Management (Heritage Business School), Media Science (The Heritage Academy which is also offering undergraduate courses in Business Administration and Computer Application), Law (Heritage Law College), Science, Humanities and Arts (The Heritage College). At present, the Heritage Group of Institutions has about 10000 students from KG to PG and 1200 faculty & staff. In Academics, students from both School & Higher Education from Heritage Group of Institutions have excelled in the Country as well as in the International arena. A Global Centre of excellence was also established by IEEE in 2017 at Heritage Institute of Technology.
In the year 2015, Shri H.K.Chaudhary received Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution towards education in the Shrestha Samman Award Ceremony organized by Rotary International District 3291 Rotary Club of Calcutta, New Alipore in association with Friends of Kolkata held at Rotary Sadan. The Award was given by his Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Former Governor of West Bengal in the presence of Justice (retd) Asok Kr. Ganguly, Justice Jayanta Mitra and other eminent dignitaries.
Shri. Chaudhary strongly believes that the young generation is sincere, dedicated and keen to adopt new practices of learning. He had also founded ‘Society for National Awareness’ an NGO to spread the theme ‘We are Indians’ since social responsibilities form an integral part of his vision and mission. Being a trustee of Agrasain Balika Siksha Sadan, Liluah, Howrah and currently associated with numerous prestigious organizations and committees like CII, Merchant Chamber of Commerce, EEPC, FIEO and many more, Shri Chaudhary’s altruistic efforts had created an impression in the minds of many towards nation-building.
