Poem: Chinar Leaves, We Will Meet Again

We were lavish  green on dense branches
When you left my love,
We gave wings to each other to look for you
But we failed my love, we failed.
Now we are no more on those branches,
No more lavish green,
No more organised, no more.

Summer passed in your waiting,
Autumn passed in your waiting,
Lively Autumn freed us, freed us from the branches
We made our  own canvas on soil, for you
you will come and relax on our crispy bodies
But you didn’t come, my love,
We are now suppressed by the snow deep in the soil.

Will you come to see us?
We are no more there
Neither on branches nor on the ground
But we love you
There we are, in your heart, deep down.

We will meet again
In the season of spring
If not, then in autumn my love.

( I wrote this poem in memory of Chinar leaves; our university Campus is decorated with chinar leaves, but it has been a long time now since I have seen them. I left my university when Article 370 was abrogated in the month of August. This poem gives voice to Chinar leaves; they must be thinking the same for me.)
