Fighting For Fundamental Rights, Yet We Celebrate As A ‘Republic’!

Just wondering that what an irony it is that India celebrates it 71st Republic Day and talks of women empowerment like Captain Tania Shergill leading men’s contingents onscreen but in reality, daughters like Nirbhaya get no justice due to politics being played in shield of justice.

The reality is harsh and horrible because 90% women are not living well whereas 10% may be living good lives. Celebrating those 10% is not bad, but 90% is more in ratio. Thus, please make roads safe.

We grew up listening and adjusting ourselves not to be out at night, since it’s not safe. But then, forget about roads, even libraries are not safe.

We grew up feeling safe at a glimpse of policemen around, but now, they haunt and threaten my soul.

When the maximum population is on road screaming to safeguard the soul of our Constitution, My PM is celebrating Republic Day not paying heed to the welfare of its people.

Then procession of Kashmir melted my heart, where the world was shown its culture and essence but people saw dark things and bloodshed.

Even while typing this, my heart is afraid that will this be the right thing to post? Probably I will be hated, judged because of my name and religion. Maybe bullied. Maybe even more but my speech, expression and voice should be free.

Because yes, I am part of a democratic republic country. But, my heart is smashed seeing scenarios where my existence means nothing for my dear government.

Thank you.
