Quick Byte: Our Country Isn’t Perfect, But That Doesn’t Mean We Can’t Make It Better

Independence Day

We’ve entered 2020, the start of a new decade, and it’s been 71 years since India became a Republic. However, the decade has not been off to a great start for us.

The youth of our nation has been on the streets, fighting against the government’s Citizenship Amendment Act, and unemployment is at the highest it has ever been. So, I wonder if we will ever reach the stage of being a ‘superpower’ and a great democracy for which our freedom fighters fought so hard.

I feel that the answer to this is yes. Today, if somebody were to ask me if we are the greatest nation on earth, then I would say “No,” because “Koi Desh Perfect Nai Hota, Use Perfect Banana Padta hai” (No country is perfect, it has to be made perfect.)

So, on the occasion of the 71st Republic Day of our nation, I ask of all my fellow citizens, no matter which religion or state or belief they belong to, to unite as our freedom fighters did against the British.

Let’s support each other and rise again to take the nation to the position where it belongs to, the number one nation in the world!
