Self-Acceptance And Body Image

Acceptance of oneself implies knowing that no one is ideal and accepting your faults and week points. It doesn’t mean that you’re accepting what you are and doing nothing to alter and enhance yourself. It doesn’t imply accepting your destiny and life as it is. It is a significant step towards becoming conscious and recognising your behaviour, habits, and character, and not being scared to look at yourself as you are.

You place yourself in a better situation to start improving when you accept yourself as you are. You know your features, both good and bad, and you realize where to enhance.

At a point in time, I thought that I wasn’t good enough. I thought that my self-worth on this planet was determined by how I look. I joined the gym was always demotivated and unhappy about myself but what I realised with time was my perspective. There are so many people across this planet who are surrounded with these negative thoughts and people around them that say that “you’re not good enough” It is very hard to navigate life with this inner voice. You walk down the street and a bus goes past with a hot-looking girl in there.

You turn on the TV, you watch a movie it’s everywhere. We buy in these signals that tell us that we are not good enough and that if you do not adhere to the ideal shape or what people find to be attractive, the only way to spend your life is in conflict with your body. It is important to break the cycle of body negativity.

We have lost our perspective. We have been bullied and shamed into thinking that this is a problem. It is important to consider the strength of your character and spirit. If you judge your self-worth with what you have achieved you will be disappointed when things don’t go your way.

Self-acceptance to me is embracing yourself, which implies being less judgmental and accepting your situations or conditions. When you have good self- esteem, you value yourself and you know that you deserve good care and respect from yourself and others
