Poem: I Hope To Be Born In A Land Where Unity Is Diversity

“Khudayi ka rutba, insaniyat ke mohtaj nahi,

Insaniyat ke rehnumai, khuda ke paas nahi”

(The importance of divinity is not humanity’s cross to carry,
The responsibility of humanity does not lie with the Creator)

Sitting in peace,

I carve hatred on piece to be torn,

My hands tremble to scribble,

Your plight and my hopelessness.

Shouts echoes with cries,

Humanity and humanism I strive,

I killed myself,

We destroyed us.

Whose Allah, Whose Ram,

Wanted lanes…

Without Ahmad and Sham,

Tossing the coin to fight the love.

I fail to stand,

I try to reconcile,

Why India and Indian?

Glorified our ends!! I aspire.

Dilli not Delhi, I learnt,

Heart is what we possessed,

Everything I saw was blood,

My and Your blood do accommodate,

We gained the lost…

Her and His youth,

Your future and my past,

Hopelessness was with it whispered.

I hope to be born,

Where diversity was unity,

Justice was Eid and Holi,

Fraternity explained India.
