Ecological Preservation Is The Need Of The Hour

We are facing an ecological uncertainty on a global level. This article refers to the degradation of the ecosystem which is occurring due to manipulation and over-exploitation of the ecological system that nature has rendered for our better being. Climate change is the pioneer in creating ecological hazards. Most of the adversities that human beings encounter is because of climatic change. Biodiversity is a complex word that envelops all living flora and fauna, and is nowadays facing the threat of extinction. As a result of such exploitation, half of the species, marine mammals and corals are disappearing faster than ever from our planet.

Population explosion which is leading to logging, overfishing, hunting, fossil fuels burning, pollutants from industries, deforestation due to expansion in road and transport. Hence, it is evidence from this discussion that due to such alarming threats, we are witnessing the Greenhouse Effect. It refers to the circumstances where the short wavelengths from the sun pass through a transparent medium and are absorbed, but the long wavelength of infrared radiation from the heated objects are trapped through that medium. The carbon-dioxide that is the product of modern-day industrialisation strongly absorbs the ray. The ray as a result can’t release to space.

Climatic change has resulted in an upsurge of global temperatures. Primarily, human beings are believed to be the vital contributor in such crisis. A constant rise in the global sea level is about 17 cm and global temperature has risen by about 0.8 degree Celsius since 1880. Next to that, the shrinking of ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica has been a major drawback between 2002 to 2006. The most extreme gripping result is the alarming  increase in the temperature of ocean level.

Increasing marine reserves to curb the decline of aquatic species, rigorous policing for saving biodiversity parks, sanctuary, wildlife species and preventing poaching are some of the measures towards ecological preservation.

The warming of the ocean creates a serious menace to the coral reefs, which have suffered grievously. The most affected elements in the aquatic ecosystem are marine species, one-celled phytoplankton plants and many more species of a rare kind. The marshland ecosystem, mangroves, wetlands, dry land or desert species, and rich tropical rainforest ecosystem are the most notoriously affected bio-diversities. Climate change has created the most undesirable implication for biodiversity. A permanent rupture in the ecosystem, which also aids in the destruction of plants, bacteria, animals species and birds, is paving the way forward to extinction.

The Arctic ecosystem and its extinct species are the worst victims of climate change. Warming of the planet is expected to both increase the risk of heat-related diseases, deaths and worsen the condition of air quality. Droughts, floods and storms are likely to hit repeatedly with a greater frequency, which are a big threat to human safety and health.

Climate change, global warming, deforestation, overpopulation, biodiversity loss, lack of waste-management skills, ocean acidification, water scarcity, acid rain, mining and ozone depletion are the top environmental crises for which we should be worried about. By educating people on biodiversity loss, water pollution, pollution and climatic change, we can help the environment to run smoothly. Some small steps towards keen protection of our natural surroundings can help make a giant leap towards the sustainable and steady improvement of environment changes. Reducing our meat intake, particularly red meat with sustainable choices can help in protecting biodiversity.

There should be a coherent and strict law implemented to curb pollution. We can stop, or at least work towards damage control seriously across international borders. By making people aware of the cause and effect of water pollution, air pollution, deforestation, and soil erosion, we can create an awareness drive against ecological uncertainty. Plants are the survival force for all mankind. But with rampant natural wildfires, illegal logging and mass cutting of timber for commercial purposes, our forestry is decreasing at an alarming rate.

All environmental pollution is interlinked. That’s why we should work together as a whole to tackle such a gigantic issue towards the entire mankind. Image is representational.

By transforming old agricultural practices, by creating an ultra technological revolution in producing more food on fewer lands, we can curb the risk. We can create environmental policies for strengthening the landscapes that cannot be manipulated for commercial purposes. Increasing marine reserves to curb the decline of aquatic species, rigorous policing for saving biodiversity parks, sanctuary, wildlife species and preventing poaching are some of the measures towards ecological preservation.

Buying more recycled and organic products can limit the amount of cardboard and paper use. All environmental pollution is interlinked. That’s why we should work together as a whole to tackle such a gigantic issue towards the entire mankind. Saying no to driving more will reduce our carbon intake. Power conservation and low consumption will be a pivotal step towards battling ecological imbalance. We need to educate the entire world about this issue that is gravely worsening the climate.
