Cleaning The Planet, One Cleanliness Drive At A Time

There is an endless amount of love shown towards activists who are fighting against climate change. Some of them are getting a major platform to share their stories and ideas with, but let us for an instance move the light towards Vrikshit Foundation. Having started as a team of five friends, the organisation now has an immense amount of support being thrown at them from all over the world.

Shankar Singh Rajput, the founder of Vrikshit Foundation, talking about his plans about Vrikshit, says, “It is an organisation that urges people to awaken their inner conscience. We have our agendas regarding the cleanup and plantation drives, but we also visit the slum areas to talk to kids and their families, and spread awareness about important topics,  which are being diversified from sanitation to rape culture, etc. We just want our generation to be responsible and responsive towards every wrong in our society.”

Vrikshit was able to grab a lot of support from not only their team members, but also from a lot of national and international celebrities. Vrikshit Foundation is currently expanding its branches across the entire nation, where people can join this initiative and help in building a safer and healthy environment. The foundation is currently open to volunteers, and anyone can join to help this initiative for a greater cause.

Vrikshit initiates weekly cleanliness drives with its team, in which they head over to a certain part of the city and help clean the place.

When asked about Vrikshit’s plans, Rajput says, “The goal of Vrikshit is to produce a much more responsible and responsive person who can work towards immediate future demands. For this, we have designed Vision 2020 for Vrikshit. This includes planting 10,000 trees and monitoring their growth, creating awareness regarding good and bad touch, and sex education. We will also take measures towards women empowerment. The regular cleanliness drives will always remain a part of Vrikshit’s future agenda.”

The organisation has successfully led its initiative all over India, attracting more and more followers every day. It was also successful in grabbing Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s attention. Shankar states, “It’s just that people appreciate all the good work. Since our work is purely selfless and guided towards a very hot issue — climate change, people have genuinely praised our hard work. Also, many celebrities have supported us, because they’re able reach out to a wider audience this way, and honesty, they have thought of us as an inspiration for people. So yeah, they’ve supported us for our sheer dedication.”

Vrikshit not only focuses on the ongoing environmental issues, but also takes an initiative in helping children get basic education, understand the difference between good and bad touch, get educated on sex, and proudly talks about women empowerment.

So, if you want to be a part of this initiative with such a great cause, let the organisation know about a certain place in the city that you would like Vrikshit to help clean. Or just spread some love and appreciation about what they are doing. You can contact them on their social media accounts. Vrikshit now has successfully gained the support of more than 11,000 people on their Instagram page.
