Can Minimalism Improve Our Life?

I just saw this documentary on Netflix regarding a thing that I didn’t know existed. I saw the show, and it hit me that it is something I am drawn towards. It is the feeling inside that makes you think ‘why are you spending on things which do not mean anything to you just to fill the void inside you?’ I don’t know, but I think that’s what I was doing.

It showed me less is more—more time to be creative, more time for things that matter. I don’t care how big my house is, all I care about is that it should satisfy me, make me feel happy. It should be cozy, and I should feel attached to it.

I have a hall in my house, I don’t use it, but there is a small part of me always thinking about what to do with it, and what I do is just buy more things for it. It physically occupies the space, but does not fill the void—it is not stopping me from thinking what to do. I think if I had a smaller house, I would be happier. I will only have the things I value and cherish. In this age, as things get cheaper, we see ourselves trying to compete with others by spending our hard-earned money on things we don’t even care about!

I hope I get happy with the path I am going to take from now on.
