Quick Bytes: ‘Pyar Kiya To… To Kya?’

What I have to say about this topic is a little different.

I’m in my 40s, and I got married at the age of 20 to someone who belongs to a different caste and religion. It was our decision to live together, so we did.

My words here about love are for parents.

I feel that if we truly love our kids, we should let them live the life they choose for themselves. We may not be happy with their choices, but who are we to say NO to them? Just because we gave birth to them — which is a result of our decision — doesn’t mean that we own their lives.

Tell them the pros and cons if it’s a difficult situation. If they are still hell bound in going ahead with their decision, let them. Assure them that they don’t approve their decision, but they will be there for them as their parents always.

That’s the best thing you can do for your children, especially when it comes to them choosing their life partners.

In short, love without fear, live without fear…
