Poem: Saving The Constitution

Indian Constitution

A poem about the infringement of constitutional values, step by step.

Secularism felt crushed every time someone was lynched in the name of religion.

Saving the Constitution!!!

Liberty winced every time someone was slapped with a sedition charge
Equality was saddened every time politicians created double standards for cases of hate speech
Fraternity fainted every time riots erupted
Justice groaned every time people accepted rulings of media trial over the court
Socialism was absolutely wretched every time the economic disparity surged up
Secularism felt crushed every time someone was lynched in the name of religion
Democracy felt desolate every time a youth lost faith in it

People witnessed violence
People lost their savings
People paid higher costs
People heard the biased news
People faced discriminatory laws
And people lost their cool
Then……….

People took to the streets
And finally, the Constitution heaved a sigh of relief
