Sustainability is derived from the Latin word sustainare which means ‘to hold.’ Sustainability is what we call, ‘the hold of all the emergence systems.’ Sustainability means a way of configuring civilisation and human activity so that society, its members and economies are able to meet their needs and express their greatest potential in the present while preserving biodiversity, and natural ecosystems, planning and acting for the ability to maintain these ideals for future generations. The changes in the environment were from the past; basically, thousands of years back. As time moved forward, humans started taking control of the environment. Majority of people were small-scale farmers; the rise of the modern era gave light to the relationship between humans and their natural habitat. Machinery provided farmers means to cultivate a large number of area. The Industrial Revolution impacted the environment on a very large scale. Human technology has now become the primary source of functioning. We are the ones who are driven by these primary changes. We have to analyse and optimise the parts of the system to see whether it’s working or not. Integrating such holes makes the system unsustainable. It’s not about one species which holds the ecosystem, it’s all of them. Environmental conservation is what we need to perform to save the ecosystem. For the past few decades, it’s been all about economy, industry and agricultural aspects which affect the environment. The linear take is breaking down the resources for human needs. Such systems should work like organisms, systems and processes are all same which produce the same things. Therefore, we have to think about and sustain our environment for the upcoming generations. The resources in the environment are becoming extinct due to our exploitative actions. We are using the resources for our self-need. This habitat is not just for humans, it’s for other species too. Humans are the most dangerous animal living on this planet. Hence, sustainability is the only way in which we can save our environment.
