Poetry: And You Ask Me, Am I Okay?

For anyone who has gone through the difficult phase and tough times, your hearts must have felt the pain, rejection, and disappointment. I can very well relate to these heavy emotions that engulf us all in times of crisis. In strange circumstances like your first period, rejection, break-up or failure, believing in yourself is the only option you are left with. It is certainly hard and very tough to imagine a clear picture when all you are left with is blurred vision.

Feelings of emotional turbulence in such times have made me come out with the following excerpt. This is dedicated to every person who is going through the challenging times of their life.

I saw dreams shattering away,
In front of my very own eyes.
In search of truth, I only got lies.
And you ask me, am I okay?

I saw the massacre of my hopes,
Faith and soul, which I cared for.
Walked through the pieces of me lying on the floor.
And you ask me, am I okay?

I saw the fall of my might and,
The bleeding of aspirations.
Broken confidence with unmet expectations.
And you ask me, am I okay?

I saw the ruination of dreams,
With words like “You can never reach up there”.
Don’t know what hurts more, failure or having no will to spare?
And you ask me, am I okay?

Arguing the naysayers, I hope to see the light at the end of the day,
Pushing every limit of myself, finding my worth and weigh,
Reaching out to a state of success, far from where I now stay,
Oh! I’ll come looking for you to tell then, now, I am okay.

I hope you feel the emotions I want to portray through this piece. Have a happy life, you all.
