As Factories Close And Humans Sit At Homes, Parrots Take To The Bright Skies And Fly

As I stood in the balcony of my room, what I saw stunned me. I admired the beauty of the parrots flying and making their way up in the air. This was not the first time I’ve descried a parrot, but I was shocked to see them in such a large number. I used to go to the terrace earlier, but had never seen parrots in such large numbers. It looked so prodigious that my eyes didn’t even blink. Chirping, they crossed over my building.

Later on, I realised how aseptic our environment has become due to the lockdown in our country. Very often, thoughts beholding the coronavirus situation and our lockdown fill me with negativity, but at the same time, isn’t it helping our Nature to show its true colours? And its ultimate characteristics that remained hidden behind the concrete jungles? Such global lockdowns help us apprehend what we have done to our environment.

The place where I live in is an industrial area, where parrots are not regular visitors. As far as my sight goes, gases coming out of chimneys is what I see, and sounds of unabating machines is what I hear day and night. Due to this lockdown, the greatest benefit is of the environment. The level of all pollutants, including smoke from vehicles, toxic gases from industries, and loud noises created by speakers or vehicle horns, have ceased.

Although such changes in the country are not beneficial for its economy, but they’re important nonetheless. The past few days have had one the clearest skies in our country, I can easily say that. Not only parrots, but other birds too, are now freely flying up in the sky, and not dying by inhaling toxic gases. Now, it is even possible to hear whispers of birds late till the afternoon.
