What an unprecedented time all around,
Encapsulated nation by the lockdown.
Rich is on vacation, poor on the ground,
Middle are fortified in this natural rebound.
Access to the basic amenities of living,
Including the comfort of internet space.
Still, we are crying and cribbing,
Oh, how to deal with this boring phase.
Ban on delivery by swiggy-zomato,
Chicken and paneer looked a distant hope.
Few wails about drinks and tobacco,
Oh, how to deal with this unwanted coup.
Pumping push-ups, sweeping and cleaning,
Social media flooded with quarantine tips.
No maids, no helpers, a common whining,
Oh, how to deal with this distressing twist.
Amazon is blocked, Flipkart is shut,
Scrolling up-down bear no fruit,
Bundle of items shifting to wish list,
Oh, how to deal with this shopping drought.
Work from home, No theatre, and match,
Netflix and Prime, vital for existence.
Deprived of ‘outside’ leisure and catch-ups,
Oh, how to deal with this suffocating resistance.
Exhausted resources, overcrowded country,
Let some die, so the others may grow.
There’s not enough in pantry,
Oh how ‘else’ to deal with this population flow.
Be it isolation or change in routine
Whatever emotions may loom over,
Such indifference is unseen
Humanity bleeds like a stabbed lover.
I pause for a second, look into the mirror,
See deeper into my soul.
Am I really the burden-bearer?
Am I really experiencing the toll?
I am safe in a comfortable room,
Eating and working as I desire.
No worries for money, nothing to the gloom,
So should I be the one to despair?
