We know that Coronavirus is spreading fast in India. This is creating too many problems for the people of the country. Amongst those, one of the most confusing ones is “which data is reliable for reporting and spreading awareness on cases”.
We don’t have any dedicated government official data website for showing updated data on COVID-19 on an hourly basis. Yes, we have two websites, those of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and MyGov.in, but these websites do not give regular updates.
Covid19india.org is an important source but it’s not a government source. Despite that, most of the people are using this data, including the media and government. Till date, there is no accurate information and figure on vital events of COVID-19 (births and deaths). I believe that this falls on the government for failing to collect information, and this also falls on us for misreporting facts and data.
But COVID-19 is one of the great disasters in the world. We are living in a technologically advanced country. Today, everyone, including lower middle-class households, uses mobile phones and they get information from all sources. So, why is the government not making use of technology to spread information on this pandemic?
The government has the power to use technology and ideas, but it is not doing so. Is it more costly? Is it unaffordable for India? These are not the reasons. The reason is the lack of will to work even India. We took a good decision on COVID-19 by enforcing a lockdown, but there is no other spreading of information happening. We are kept in dark. It’s not true that they don’t have the ideas, they do; what they don’t have is willingness.
Covid19india.org is giving extremely accurate information compared to other trackers and reports. It updates on an hourly basis, as per reports released by the government. They are collecting information from all sources of government, government hospitals and other organizations.
Don’t believe anything blindly, even television news. Whenever you see any data and figure, just think rationally; is it true or not? Just observe things in your surroundings about how rumours are spreading about COVID-19 cases. How discussions are taking place? These things differ for rural and urban areas, literate and illiterate people and the like distinctions.
Don’t panic about COVID-19 increasing cases in India.
Take a pledge that “I won’t go anywhere from my home until Coronavirus stops spreading in India”. It is every individual’s responsibility to follow the central and state government guidelines on this issue.
Stay home, stay healthy, stay safe.
