Corona Virus : Shouldn’t corona warriors be awarded for their service?

For all those who have been fighting against the fatal Corona virus shouldn’t there be awards to praise their efforts? Shouldn’t their selfless service get a global recognition? We can create a category of awards, either of medals, certificates acknowledging the corona warriors and their valour.

Their bravery should be awarded, their resilience should not go unnoticed. The unflinching support that India has seen from its Central and respective State government, police personnel, doctors, medical staff, civic work bodies, and other such workers should be publicly recognised and honoured.

When we have awards for achievements in science, literature, and other arts, we should also create a category of awards for humanity. For all those who have been relentlessly dedicated to the service of this nation.

When it comes to dealing with an unprecedented crisis like this, India and many other world countries have dealt quite maturely with the aid and advice of their able administrators. One of the toughest steps so far, for anyone out there has been to stay indoors, i. e., complete lockdown. Despite this, we all have come across one month of this lockdown with too much of wisdom and our newly – acquired skills during this period.

Humanity Always Triumphs

This indispensable workforce has once again proved that no matter what happens, in the end it is humanity that triumphs over everything else. No capitalism or avariciousness can save human lives. It is the people-centric approach and our age-old values of believeing that no gain is above human lives which still resonates.

To much dismay, reports of attacks on this workforce also didn’t deter them from doing what was imperative, didn’t discourage them from doing their duty. Their perseverance is commendable, their persistence is just praise worthy. They need to be given the much-needed recognition in the annals of history.

It would be a big chapter in human history juxtaposing the ugly face of progression in terms of globalisation and capitalism while on the other the beautiful, never seen before side of humans – last remains of humanity.

These Awards will not only be a way of manifesting their efforts, respecting their spirit but also prove to be a way of encouraging others to light up the tiny remaining fragments of humanity in them
