Netflix Original Series ‘The Stranded’ Unravels The Haunted Caves Of Thailand

When anyone discusses Thailand, the caves and beaches become a mandatory part of that discussion. Thailand is famous for its islands and the horror stories attached to them. Ko Kham Noi island near the Pattaya shore and Krasae Bon in the rain forest stand true to the horror. Strange Thai music is heard by locals very often from these caves along with lights emitting from them. I know you are visualising that scenario while reading this, but what if someone shows you the horror and thrill in a more interesting manner through a complete series?

Director Sophon Sakdapisit did the same by bringing in The Stranded, a Thai TV series. Released on 14th November 2019, Netflix has set its own standards by providing a range of series with topmost quality in terms of acting, direction, music, thrillers, and horror. The Stranded was given a 6.3 /10 by the IMDb. Before directing this series Sophon Sakdapisit had also directed ‘ThirTEEN Terrors‘ and ‘The Promise‘ which were also TV series.

‘The Stranded’ resonated with the viewers and each episode made them more curious than ever. The last episode was titled ‘The Gate’. Papangkorn Lerkchaleampote, who plays the character of Kraam, gets curious about his past, his real parents and the Tsunami that left his guardian father dead. He survived the Tsunami and kept asking himself, “how was I alive in the water?” and “what was that vision?”. These questions lead him to the gate in the last episode. Professor Lin guides him through the cave and suddenly disappears, Kraam descends into the water inside the cave and emerges through a miracle gate.

Meanwhile, Anan and his friends finally accept the truth that no one is coming to their rescue. They build a community of their own that comes as a surprise to the viewers when Kraam is caught roaming on the strange road. Curiosity builds upon what would Anan and his friends do with Kraam? Is Kraam able to unravel the truth about his past? What if someone from the mainland arrives in search of the students?  These questions are left in the dark until any successive season is announced by either Netflix or the director.
