“Hard-Hitting Drama About Modern Feminism”: ‘Four More Shots Please’ Is A Must-Watch

Still from Four More Shots Please.

Get your seat-belts ready because Damini, Anjana, Umang and Siddhi are back in action with much power and zest in the second season of Amazon Prime’s Four More Shots Please.

Siddhi’s (played by Maanvi Gangroo) drunk call to Umang is the initiator of this season and call for a reunion. Once again, their simple but bold characters fall into action for the series. Siddhi’s character undergoes a novel transformation. The other characters, Damini (Sayani Gupta), Anjana (Kriti Kulhari) and Umang(Bani ) vye to strengthen their game of life.

The second season is not just confined to giving teeth to women or simply crowning the concept of feminism. Instead, the season addresses much more essential components, like freedom of expression and finding a voice to exercise one’s democratic rights, open marriage, loneliness desires, hook ups, body shaming, infidelity and equality within the same sex. These sensitive topics have been dealt with in the show very carefully and artistically by the director, Nupur Asthana.

Devika Bhagat, the writer of the series, deserves an applause for making the season blossom with flawed, but not cringe, dialogues. It is one of the most hard-hitting and beautiful drama about modern feminism that dances over the grave of patriarchy. The ladies use Bhagat’s dialogues to slash the challenges thrown at them flawlessly.

The season is addictive, but not as fresh since it is in the same lines as that of the first season. In the end, it would be fair to say that Four More Shots Please is a great option to binge-watch this week.
