iCMR clears Anti-Body test

The ‘Indian Council of Medical Research’ (ICMR) recently cleared the Anti-Body Test  for Indians. The test is gaining popularity due to its time effectiveness. In comparison to the Swab test, the Anti-Body test takes only 13 minutes to give the result. According to a report of laboratories in Greenland, 50%  people getting infected with Corona Virus have not shown symptoms of the same. The Anti-Body test can help identify such infected people and also tells the range of time the person has been infected since.

What is the Anti-Body Test?

The Anti body test uses blood of the subject to test the presence of IgM and IgG antibodies in the person. If the subject shows no symptoms but the test finds any of these antibodies in the subject’s blood, it means the subject is infected with Corona virus.

How to check the presence of the Corona virus using the Antibody Test Machine?

The Anti-Body Test machine has three lines called the C line, G line and M line. The test is considered inaccurate in case the C line is not visible. In case the C and M lines are visible, it means that IgM antibodies are present in blood. This indicates the person has been infected with Corona 4 to 9 days ago. If all the C, G and M lines are visible, it means both IgM  and IgG antibodies are present in the blood. This means that the person has been infected with Corona 10 to 25 days ago. If only the C and G lines are visible, it means that IgG antibodies are present in the blood of the person. This indicates the person has been infected with the Corona virus  20 to 25+ days ago.

In case only the C line is visible, it means the test is accurate and the person has tested negative for the Corona Virus.

What is the ratio of accuracy?

In case of a negative result using the Antibody Test machine, the accuracy ratio is 98.4%. In case of a positive result using the Antibody Test machine, the accuracy ratio is 99%.
