It was the summer season of 2011 , Delhi was burning like hell, summer vacation was on corner , i was dying to vist my Nani’s house and have fun with my cousin’s . Later on 11 may 2011 after coming back from school , i wasn’t feeling well , it was stomach cramps , i ignored that and went to play badminton with my friends . I had my dinner, i went to pee and notice blood spotting , well yes i ignored that too !! my denial game was strong back then .
Finally on 12th of may 2011 i got my period who forget their first period right , i skip my school that day , later i take a pad and wore it wrongly , well i was aware of the word period, because of our school seminars and i also know that *period is the ultimate truth of a girl’s life!!!* , What i didn’t know was how to stick a pad on underwear ?, now you might be thinking , why i didn’t ask my mother about this ? i was scared because i thought, i am too young to have periods although i know that it starts in between 11-16 years , i thought that i will have my periods on my 14th birthday or later . There were so many unanswered questions inside my head , will people judge me on my period’s stain? will i loose weight? What will be my mom’s or friends reactions ? how many times i have to change my pad ? .
Anyways I told my mom on the next day that ‘i am mensurating’ she corrected me and said laughingly ‘it’s menstruating ’ and i had to tell her because she was my mother . She was like ‘okay it’s normal ’ then she guide me how to stick pad on panties , from now onwards i have to use one. My old undies ,basically children’s undies were not suitable for pad , she also told me that periods or menstruation is normal cycle and no one is going to make fun of my stains ,and by eating proper food i won’t lose weight , and i have to change pad every 6 hours and she told me that an average female had their first period at the age of 11. Basically she helped me out and later i enjoyed my summer vacation with my cousins.
