I am from Assam, and it has been more than a week since I have been on quarantine to protect myself from COVID-19. I have been spending my time writing a book, along with gaming and watching some movies. We all know that this is a human-to-human transmitted virus, and we must maintain social distancing.

It is very painful to see the news coming in from Italy, the USA, China, Spain, Iran and many other countries that have been affected by the virus. We must stay at our homes, quarantine ourselves, and follow the guidelines enlisted by doctors as well as government orders. In India, several people have been taking this virus lightly, violating government rules, and spreading the infection.

The number of deaths are increasing at a rapid rate, and it is our moral duty as a citizen to look after our fellow neighbours. The healthcare sector is languishing, we have to take the onus upon ourselves and exercise safety and precautions. Until any official government order is released, we must stay within the four walls of our homes.

“The healthcare sector is languishing, we have to take the onus upon ourselves and exercise safety and precautions.”

This pandemic has ruined several lives, especially those of daily workers. The pain of migrant workers is evident, who’re facing the brunt of transportation, communication, food and shelter. The government relief packages too have not reached the right way, and I urge the government to take necessary measures.

The doctors and medical staff have been playing an active rule and constantly researching in order to develop a vaccine for the menace. All we can do is cooperate and do our bit. They have been extremely impressive in fighting this virus valiantly. I am proud and applaud all the doctors and frontline workers all around the world or their dedication. I hope their respective governments help them in each and every aspect by providing them with the necessary items. Long live our doctors and frontline workers.
