Will The Extended Lockdown Help Counter COVID-19?

On 14th April, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on COVID-19. Every citizen of India was eagerly waiting for his speech because it would decide whether the country-wide lockdown would be extended or not. In India, cases are increasing rapidly and according to Worldometer 396 deaths have been reported to date.

For the country’s betterment, the government has decided to extend the lockdown till 3rd May. The Prime Minister asked everyone to maintain proper social distancing and also mentioned that this time there will be strict rules for citizens during this period. In many states, people did not follow the lockdown, they went out without any reason, crowded in front of shops and there were also reports of people spitting in front of medical staff.

Just the lockdown will do nothing, the government should appoint officers or task force in every locality for people’s help.

People also should understand the situation and cooperate with the government. They should understand the problems of government workers such as medical staff, police, media etc. They are doing 24/7 jobs because of our safety. They suffer more for our mistakes. So it is better for everyone to not to go out.

If we do not corporate with the government then the whole nation will suffer just like US, Spain and Italy. North-East states are in better condition because they are following the rules in a proper way. Mizoram is the best example of it. Here government sealed its border when there was only one case tested positive, they suspended their ILP (Inner Line Provision) before the other northeast states. Even the people are so good they maintain proper social distancing. I think other states should learn from Mizoram.

No one know how long this novel virus will go and if the lockdown will extend again or not. So it is a request to all to keep yourself safe and try not to go out from home without any reason and always use masks whenever going out.
