Continuously for over three months, the entire world is confronting deaths and fear as a result of COVID-19. Social distancing, de-stressing and supporting each other in this time is really crucial. To everyone’s surprise, in the war against COVID-19, an introspective view was taken by people in finding the communal element and naming it Corona Jihad. An innovation, thanks to the crisis, people have become innovative- another form of Jihad. But I wonder, does anyone who use the term ‘Jihad’ in their workspace as media persons actually know the real meaning of this term.
I have been quite since last week just listening to Nizamuddin news. Suddenly, in the morning today, I realized that atleast in India, the population of Muslims is not even half of the entire population. I hope I am statistically correct. So all the heinous offences under the Indian Penal Code and other laws are really committed by only the Muslims. If that’s the situation, its really good for the judicial system and they could only convict an accused on the basis of his religion. However, if we go deeper, amongst the sexual offences and other offences of the gravity, most of the convicts (not just the accused) are the Hindus. The brutal offences against minor girls and old people, sex with animals and so on are done by the people of this religion.
I wish I could change the history. Historically, people of Islam used the teachings by misrepresenting its messages and misguiding the people who later became terrorists. If for a moment, we forget that the Muslims have formed many terrorist groups and successfully done terrorist acts, would we see them differently. How easy it is to correlate this historical and the continuous association of a small portion of their religion and considering them villains.
India is facing another war, war of hatred. I hope that these differences are shed as we fight against COVID-19.
