#WhyIWrite: To Share My Thoughts With An Audience

What makes you write?

Hello, for the past 6 months I’ve been writing on YKA. And, in-between, I got featured in top writers of the platform. I have written articles on politics, history, international relations, society, and more. I was searching for a writing platform where anyone can share their thoughts, and then I found YKA, as one which publishes, edits, and gives feedback to the authors. I still remember, my first article was ‘D For Democracy, Not Dictatorship.’ I got huge applause from the editor. So, it was like winning a prize in the first competition of life. The feedback of the editor encouraged and motivated me to write more. This is my 6th month on YKA with 11 articles published. Now coming to the question “What makes me write?” Thanks for this.

Why is citizen journalism important to you?

Every citizen has a voice but unfortunately, not every voice is heard and reaches the top. Somewhere, and somehow, I think that this voice had to get the courage to make its way out of the mind and reach a large audience. YKA gave me ‘that‘ way to reach many, who may have questions and opinions to share. We are in an era where every news is on the tips of our fingers. And we cannot remain isolated in such an environment. Citizen journalism is very necessary in a democratic society, and as we are witnessing the ‘sold media,’ which is working on the order of their master, it is the prime duty of every concerned citizen to share the voices of the oppressed who don’t have privilege and courage to speak up. Citizen journalism is a way to help them express freely and hold the government accountable.

Sometimes, I really get anxious. We all get anxious. Our changed pattern of living life is also responsible for it. Writing is one way to remain stress-free as we pour out all our thoughts doing the rounds of our brains. There are other ways too remain stress-free. I play the piano, listen to songs, and talk to my parents. Especially in these unusual times of CoViD-19, it is very important to keep yourself busy and also remain calm and stress-free.

At last, I congratulate the man behind building YKA, Anshul Tewari, and his team for opening this wonderful opportunity for all of us. Many wishes to the team again.
