Food is a very essential source of life. Today, during this situation, we are hardly getting ration and because of this pandemic, we get to know the value of food that we waste every day. As we are not allowed to go out of our houses, we are ordering ration from ration dealers so that they can deliver it to our homes.
On April 15, 2020, a 30-year-old victim lodged a complaint against a ration dealer who came to deliver the rations but he knew that she was alone and her husband was stuck in Punjab, and proceeded to allegedly rape her at her home. According to the complaint lodged, the victim had gone to a fair price shop where the accused promised her of delivering the items to her home. As we know, women have the ability to bargain with the shopkeeper, the victim did the same and she told the accused about her husband who was stuck in Punjab as he works there and due to lockdown, he was not able to come back. So, he saw an advantage and he promised the victim that he would deliver the items.
When she requested the accused to deliver the rations, he gave her surety that he would deliver the items, and within hours, he came to deliver the items and as soon as he got a chance to enter her house, he went inside and allegedly, brutally raped her in her house. As soon as the victim lodged the complaint, under Section 375 IPC, the police arrested the accused.
