This Group Of Volunteers Is Showing Gratitude For Frontline Workers And How!

It is a fact that this has been a tough time for India and the world with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The nationwide lockdown that extended for over a month, saw our medical services, and police of every state on the forefront, fighting this deadly virus and keeping all of us safe.

During this time we also saw everyone come together to help the poor of our society, the daily wage workers, who live hand-to-mouth. We have also seen many attacks on police as well as doctors and health workers in some states. In such a scenario, Those In Need, a Delhi-based not-for-profit organization, and its team of passionate volunteers have been working to provide PPE Kits to doctors and frontline medical staff.

Those In Need is a network of passionate and dedicated volunteers who have come together to support various causes. After the outbreak of coronavirus in India, they launched their first campaign #Gratitude4Givers, where the volunteers shared their messages online for doctors and medical staff in the form of e-greeting cards. This received a great response from not only the volunteers but also from their extended networks. In addition, various artists have come out in support of this initiative and have created artwork for the various initiatives the volunteers have taken up.

Moving further ahead with their work, the Those In Need team launched a fundraising drive to donate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Kits and N95 masks in order to ensure the safety of the medical staff in hospitals. Through this campaign, they have already been able to donate 200 plus PPE Kits to hospitals such as Hindu Rao Hospital, Civil Hospital Gurgaon, Maulana Azad Medical College, Lady Hardinge Medical College, and Air Force Hospital Hindan.

Abhishek Saini, Founder, Those In Need, says, “Since the lockdown has started I have been receiving 5-10 calls daily not only from Delhi but also from other cities to support different families. Through our network, we were able to connect people with local organizations that can support them. It’s a tough time for volunteers as well as they have never received the training to work during such a pandemic. We are really proud to see how our volunteers are able to send PPE kits to different hospitals in Delhi/NCR and help those in need.”

The team has also been involved in bringing forward stories of individuals from ground zero who have been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth flow of services for the citizens.

With a team of dedicated and passionate individuals, Those In Need and its volunteers have shown extreme courage to help people and keep doctors and medical staff motivated and safe. They have also been ensuring that each and every patient is treated with great care.
