This is rather strange and interesting at the same time that my first ever writing piece was published on Youth Ki Awaaz on the rising crisis of unemployment in India. Well, I can surely say that it wasn’t such a happy time when I wrote that article because I was myself unemployed after my undergraduate course. And it hit me hard. So, it won’t be wrong if I say that that piece came directly from my heart. It was a detailed article covering a lot of facets of this critical problem faced by almost every young person in the country. And finally, when I received the acknowledgement mail from YKA stating they had put my article in featured category, it was unbelievable for me because it was the first time my writing was acknowledged by such a big writing platform.
Well, that was indeed a turning point in my life because that level of recognition gave me the confidence to continue my writing journey even further. After that, I wrote on diverse genres ranging from issues that matter to youth to inspiring poems and short motivational pieces on life. Those all were always followed by personalized feedback by YKA editors which is one unique element I really love about this platform. They believe in personal messages, feedbacks in this world of chatbots.
Talking further, writing, in general, has really made me a person I was never before. And it goes without mentioning the air of confidence which being a regular writer on YKA has imparted in me. It has made me more rational, logical and brought in me a rather empowered feeling.
I had always heard the common saying that writing can change the world but it’s only after I started writing in real that I realised the impact of powerful stories on society.
And with each story being published, I have seen myself becoming a better person, ready to share more of her experiences with the world.
And these are few of the many reasons I have hung on to this rare and unique platform for over two years, speaking out my mind and will continue to do so in future as well.
At last, I congratulate the whole Youth Ki Awaaz community for having completed 12 years. Hope that we keep growing like this forever.
