In This Quarantine, All Women Need Is Care, Respect And Compassion”

This is a write up on women empowerment.

There are many inequalities in today’s society and disrespecting a particular gender is one of them. We all know how we speak with elder men, how we behave before them, and how we react in front of elder women, or in general how we behave with women in our homes. Even in our homes, we disrespect our women.

Many kinds of exclusion exist in our society and defaming women, considering them a less human being is one of them.

The same has been much more visible since the lockdown was announced across India. Women inside homes are facing a very harsh reality of gender inequality, which they thought was an age-old thing. It still prevails, the patriarchy is still prevailing and now it is showing its hidden blood-sucking teeth.

The situation is even worse in rural areas where many women are subjected to domestic violence. I heard a story of a lady who lived in a village and she was thrown out of her home during the pandemic. She was sent out to earn money or beg for it.

She told us, “They did so because police were beating men when they go outside but in the case of women, it’s a bit liberating so they threw me out of the home to earn some money to feed their lusty desires.”

We do literally everything in our power to make them happy, to make them satisfied at home. What we need in return is just a bit of care, respect, and compassion. This is all we need. I hope while writing this that all women out there will get the respect they deserve for what they do.
