India Records 0.2 Lakh Deaths Per Lakh Population Compared To The 4.1 Global Average

0.2 deaths per lakh population have been recorded in India, while the global figure is of 4.1. Approximately, 38.73% of patients have recovered.

Several hundred tested positive on Tuesday, with a large number of people travelling from other states, or even from abroad. According to officials, the mortality rate in the nation has been relatively low, making it longer for the total to hit the one lakh mark.

As verified by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 1,01,139; consequently, the death toll has increased to 3,163. About 5,000 cases were observed within a span of 24 hours, along with 134 fatalities. On the contrary, the PTI tally declared by various states and union territories displayed a greater number of cases in the nation.

With 59,000 active cases in India, close to 39,000 patients have recovered. The Health Ministry said that for every one lakh population, there are 7.1 cases in the nation.

Moreover, according to the data released by the World Health Organization, 45,25,497 cases have been reported worldwide.

The officials cited that India took 64 days to reach the count of one lakh, which is double in comparison to nations like the US and Spain. Similarly, it took about 35 to 42 days for it to surge in nations like Germany, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

Further records make it evident that 1,08,233 samples were tested for the coronavirus on Monday, making the overall count of tests more than 24 lakh.

Although India is estimated to be the 7th largest country in the world to witness COVID-19 cases, it ranks 139th place in terms of the tests conducted per million population, as per data website Worldometer.

Parts like Goa, Kerala and the North-East in India, are currently in the second or third phase of the outbreak. Despite Kerala having observed 142 active cases, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan asserts that community transmission is absent.

Several people who have returned from foreign nations to states like Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have also tested positive. 10,554 cases have been recorded in the national capital. Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, the total number of infected people is 2,489.

The testing capacity may have increased substantially, but it not enough to cover a population of billions. Nevertheless, machines like TrueNAT and CBNAAT have been mobilised; on the other hand, 14 AIIMS-like mentoring institutions of repute have ensured that they are maintaining the bio-safety standards of operation. Many Indian corporations have also sourced and funded the supply of medical tools. As a result, about 39 lakh face masks and 10,000 litres of sanitizers have been produced by Chhattisgarh alone.

Lastly, as per Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, ₹16,000 will be transferred into the accounts of the poor population, as well as the labourers and farmers, to curb their hardships. The Sambal Yojna guarantees social security of the vulnerable section, as it supplied food to the people even in the absence of their ration cards.
