‘Divided ‘ families ”united ‘ by sorrows

One of the valuable message of celebrating international day of families is the importance of younger generation looking after their elderly parents.

The present surge of corona virus has made both parents and their children show concern for each other and try to unite and live together. Rich families are asking their foreign resident children to return and live with them. They have the necessary accessories to live comfortably. But poor migrant workers who also are also eager to live in their villages with their elderly have very little accessories and money for sustenance .

This day will be meaningful only if the present spate of fast spreading ‘nuclear ‘ families is curbed and children start taking care of their parents. Even if they live apart due to unavoidable exigencies , they should try to maintain bondage through constant communication and regular discussions. After all, the parents are responsible for the future of their children and the children should realize that they have grown to this stature because of their parents’ hard work and care.

Just ‘celebrating ‘ is not enough: unless the ‘value’ of being together is realized, the day may have little significance and meaning for all.
