As I promised, I am back with some new ideas to share with you. Last time, when I went to watch the circus show with my family, I noticed something horrible. On our way back, I saw people littering and spitting on the road. Not only was it difficult to look at, but my father, who was holding my hand while walking, also told me it is hazardous. He then introduced me to the concept of hygiene and how it can help us live a healthy life. Also, recently, while my school is closed due to an outbreak of coronavirus or COVID-19, my mother has become very strict with hand sanitsation and hygiene at home.

Today, washing hands properly is necessary to prevent the spreading of COVID-19. But my mother has always taught me to clean my hands frequently to kill germs. Many of my friends in class never washed their hands, even before eating their lunch. When our mothers cook food with so much precaution and cleanliness, wouldn’t we defeat their purpose of keeping us healthy by eating food with dirty hands?

We must sanitise our hands regularly not only for our safety, but also of others, irrespective of a virus outbreak. A minimum of 20 seconds should be spent cleaning hands thoroughly with water and soap. Similarly, bathing, brushing your teeth and other personal hygiene activities are vital to lead a healthy life.

Germs can be really stubborn. They can stick to our skin, hair, clothes, bed, curtains, and other things around us. And because they are invisible to the naked eye, they can do their job without even being noticed! However, with simple tips, we can ensure cleanliness around us. For example, we can wash utensils and keep them under sunlight. The UV rays emitted by the sun are effective in killing germs. Therefore, my mother often leaves various household items such as dustbins, quilts, pillows, etc. under the sunlight for several hours.

Overall, I have learned that personal hygiene and cleanliness should be of the utmost importance at all times. A well-maintained environment around us keeps us healthy and happy.
