Stories from the past that explain the current situation.
With life at a halt in the times of Coronavirus, we are all struggling to cope up with our routine tasks, but I am sure that this isn’t the first time any situation of this sort has emerged in our lives. History has faced many such occurrences that halted the present and brought new fears and changes in the future.
Some events to list the pandemic are FLU PANDEMIC (1918) where the death toll was 20-50 million, FLU PANDEMIC (1968) with the Death Toll was around 1 million, it was commonly called “the Hong Kong Flu” and the HIV/AIDS PANDEMIC which was at its peak in 2005-2012 with a death toll of around 36 million. These deadly pandemics halted and changed the way world functioned. History, regardless of time, speaks for itself, for there are so many individuals in this world who have their stories similar to the building up in the times of COVID-19.
Mansi Baindur recalls the time of Tsunami in 2008, where most of the coastal part of the country was tremendously affected. People were enclosed for days; it wouldn’t stop raining; there were no internet or television connections either. It was more like nature’s lockdown.
She says, “The uncertainty was all the way more at that time due to low media coverage, Hence if the two situations are compared, I feel that nature is very patient, it gives us many chances. It is on us to value it now”.
Even though the present lockdown has stretched more than the previous one, Mansi considers that she is prepared emotionally as well as resource-wise to deal with the current situation. She suggests for us to be patient. This too shall pass soon.
