The Reality Of Spiritual Abuse

I always wanted to put my thoughts in a forum and make a difference to the people and society around me. When one is mentally going through some of the worst thoughts, it is just so difficult to have a positive outlook of the entire view around you.

So, then what can one do, it is not easy but make the most out of the situation you are in and put it down. Sometimes we can make our worst experiences as our strengths and they can help us to make that difference to ourselves and which would reflect on to people around us.

Spiritual Abuse huh? Well, this exists and in different forms. We can look through and how it has affected me deeply. This is really painful especially when you are forced to not follow a certain faith you believe in and when your kid is taught against your faith.

  1. The Spiritual Leader you believe in abuses his position against you
  2. You/your children are forced to follow a certain faith and convert
  3. You are not allowed to follow your faith
  4. Hatred and Gossip about your family for being religious

This is the story i write about how i am on daily basis facing these kind of abuses. I am going to name the religions as well just that as this country knows the reality about how the Minority is trying to Convert as many around as possible.

I am Jain and I married a man who pretended to be Secular and supportive about my faith and my beliefs and was all well informed before we married against my parents wishes. This man is a Christian and said we do not force anyone to convert to their belief and it was almost a promise made that I would continue with my faith. When vulnerable, these words are so pacifying.

However, the influence of his mother especially on him was unbelievable. I was and still am forced to go Church, I was/am not even allowed to have photos of the gods i have always prayed to. I was forced to read every day while pregnant. When my son was born, his mother forced him to eat Non-Veg, He was taught “Ganesha is the Devil“, “Mahaveer is the devil“. Later on, abuse my family every day about how my parents left me to be. The hurt was one of the reasons but also they now did not want to get into my life and make decisions for me.

This is a story in a family where the man is educated and works with one of the biggest e-commerce firm in the world and is at a  fairly higher position. I am writing this to put out the reality of our society where Hindus and its related religions are treated as mobsters. As I go through this on daily basis, especially when we hear about what Hindus did or RSS did.

This does exist and in a big way. Verbal abuse combined with Spiritual abuse is a killer. These experiences made me realize that such a mindset and even such actions exist. The biggest take away is that the youth should give their ears to when their parents talk about marrying people in the same society/religion/culture.

I would not talk about blindly following what they say, but one should absolutely consider it when they are making such a big move. It is so important to judge/test the partner you are going to be with on this aspect as it can take a lot of space in your mind, in case it does not work. It is important that we have the right to religious practice in every community in the country. It is not just for Hindus.

Life is Beautiful if we make it so. We have to let people around just be.
