Wisdom Or Dumb

Introduction

Politics is given high importance in India. Politicians are also taken very seriously. The statements given by politicians are of high importance and have a deep impact on the society, as the citizens read them and look up to them as leaders. The following are some statements given by our leaders. It is up to the public to decide whether these statements are ‘Wisdom’ or ‘Dumb’?

  1. If there is a Decline in Automobile Sales then why there are Traffic Jams

BJP Lok Sabha MP Virendra Singh Mast denied any condition of an economic slowdown in the country and said in the Lok Sabha, “An atmosphere is being created that there is an economic slowdown. To defame the nation and government people are saying that the automobile sector has slowed down. If there is a decline in automobile sales then why there is traffic jams on the roads? There are 20 vehicles in one home. You never decide what should be the relation between consumer and production”.

  1. Cow Inhale and Exhale Oxygen

Uttarakhand Chief Minister and BJP leader Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that the cow is the only animal that inhales as well as exhales oxygen. He said one can cure breathing problems by massaging a cow. He said cow is called “mata” or mother because it gives oxygen to humans. He also said one can be cured of TB (tuberculosis) if he or she is near a cow. He made these comments while speaking at a function in Dehradun a few days ago.

  1. Sun Chanting Om

Former IPS officer being the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi tweeted a fake video, which claimed that NASA has found that the Sun chants ‘Om’, considered the holiest sound in Hinduism. The video contains a clear recording of the chant itself and isn’t the actual video released by NASA. The video also contains accompanying commentary, in an American English accent, claiming that Greek philosopher Pythagoras had also “heard” these sounds made by the Sun in the 6th century BCE. Later the video found to be fake which was part of Whatsapp for several years.

  1. Go Corona Go

As India was grappling with a coronavirus outbreak, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale came up with a simple solution to fight the Corona Virus. The solution was to just tell the deadly virus to “Go”. He raised a slogan by chanting “Go Corona Go” in Mumbai. It was a prayer meet in Mumbai on 20th February 2020 which was also attended by Chinese consul general in Mumbai.

  1. Clapping Kills Corona

When our leaders and politicians are speaking so many unscientific and illogical things, then why can’t the citizens do something similar? When Janta Curfew was announced on Sunday, 22nd March 2020, and the people were asked to clap at 5 pm to appreciate the people fighting Corona Virus, the citizens came up with a creative theory and claim which went on to become very popular on social media. The claim stated that clapping together at 5 pm would make such a “vibration” in the atmosphere that coronavirus will be destroyed. The claim was misleading. There is no proven scientific evidence that vibrations created by collectively clapping can destroy coronavirus. Later, the government pithed in and said that the news was fake.

  1. Adaab, directs the rays of the air into the mouth

BJP’s leader and Member of Parliament Ramesh Bidhuri has said that using ‘namaste’ as a greeting prevents contamination from the COVID-19, but not adaab, because it directs the rays of the air into the mouth.

Conclusion

Why are these types of statements made and activities done? Do they make politicians popular? Do these types of statements give a mileage to political parties? Do these kinds of irrational and illogical statements have takers? Where will our nation head if we have such leaders at the helm of affairs?
