Quick Byte: Are Exams More Important Than The Health Of Students?

The world is currently facing an unforeseen pandemic of COVID-19. People are in distress, agony, and mental stress due to the pandemic and its related factors. However, colleges and universities are ignoring the physical and mental health of the students and forcing them to appear for exams.

Conducting online or offline exams for students in this toxic environment would be quite an injustice. The institutes should focus on quality education, instead of just concentrating on examinations. Exams should be made optional for students. Interested students can give exams while others can be evaluated on the basis of internal marks and grades of previous semesters. Universities including KIIT (Bhubaneswar), MAKAUT (Kolkata) and Calcutta University should ponder over the futility of examinations in difficult times and take necessary action.
