Narcissus was a Laconian hunter, very handsome but in love with himself. He was very proud and he didn’t reciprocate anyone’s love for him. Nemesis the Greek goddess of revenge punished him by leading him to a pool where he fell in love with his own reflection.

Greek myth of Narcissus is the basis for the nomenclature of the personality disorder of Narcissism.
Narcissism or Narcissistic personality disorders is a type personality disorder where the individual is in love with his grandiose self image. This just doesn’t mean the individual loves himself rather a very ideal and grand image of himself often to remove the deep shallowness and insecurity within themselves.

A narcissistic is very arrogant, lacks empathy and consideration of people, is self-centred and seeks attention. People refer to these kinds of people as manipulative, Selfish, demanding and patronising which makes them quite successful.

They can be very charming and magnetic. Their charisma often attracts everyone which also leads to their success. They find it hard to change their behaviour and are very sensitive to criticism. By knowing it’s symptoms one can identify and protect oneself from a narcissist.

Narcisist believe they are very special and unique, superior than the common crowd. They want appreciation for the grand things they have done, if they haven’t they may lie to gain it. They live in a fantasy world which supports their delusional of grandeur. They have no empathy so they exploit others a lot. They feel threatened by others who are popular and confident so they demean or bring those people down to satisfy their own ego.
