Quick Byte: Questions That All Women Have In Mind, But Don’t Always Ask

There is one particular question that every girl thinks of — why do men not see a woman as a woman? Why do they always see them as a toy, why does the male-dominated society not give them an equal opportunity? Why can they not see a woman as a person?  Why do men, rather, our society, believes that the former is superior to women? That they exist only to take care of them? Why is a woman’s happiness secondary? Why do they have to compromise?

Why can they not make their own identity? Why does her identity begin with someone’s daughter, sister or wife? Why is marriage a necessity for girls? Why is their “marriageable age” pre-decided? In the name of society, honour and respect, why do families force girls to marry?

Why does society force women to stay in their marriage despite their problematic husbands and in-laws? Why is she expected to cater to household chores despite being sick? Why do parents, and society, not force their sons to perform household chores as a basic livelihood skill that everybody should know? What stops the family to teach their sons about respect? To witness the suffering of women?

India is an independent country today, we talk about gender equality now, but the reality is stark and visible. Your own house would be a testament to the question, does the “weaker” gender, still suffer?
