The Indian education system is bizarre. Here, education is not about learning new things, but rather about memorising a lot of things for a short period of time. We have spent our childhood rote-learning a lot of useless information that has no direct connection to our practical life. We are told to be disciplined from an early age when we don’t even know what it means.
Our society is growing but the syllabus in schools is still the same, and the ways of learning are also archaic. Moreover, many schools don’t have a proper playground for physical activities. Teachers seem tired and there is no enthusiasm in their way of teaching. Also, during puberty, students face a lot of problems both physically and mentally, but have no one to talk to about it. Amidst all this, our parents and teachers expect good results from us. This is one of the reasons why many children detest going to school and don’t respect their teachers.
The Reality Of Indian Education System
A person who has a big sum of money spends that money in building a school and appoints someone to take care of the result of the school, so that they can attract more and more admissions. They could do anything to make their result better, either through bribe or torture. They don’t even realise that these students are the future of this country and among these students, some are going to be at a very respectful and responsible place.
When we graduated from school, many of my friends did not have the self-confidence to give their introduction. This is the situation of our so-called education system, and the worst part is, everyone goes through it, despite knowing that it’s not very helpful.
Our education system is biased. It has a place for a person who can memorise 100 problems, but there is no place for a person who can solve those 100 problems. If you are fast in memorising, then you will be appreciated, but if you take a little time to understand things, then you are posed as the worst person to be ever born on this planet.
When a child commits a mistake, they are not allowed to rectify it, rather, they are reminded of that same mistake every second. Even teachers do the same. They make money without even realising that they are handling the future of this country. They teach us only to think unidirectionally and make us believe that the rest of the ways are useless. I know there are a lot of teachers who are trying to make a change but most of them work like this only.
The Result
Students become really underconfident and have very low self-esteem. They are unable to grow into better personalities because for 10-12 years, they have imbibed a lot of bad habits that are really difficult to leave. According to a survey, more than 50% of Indian employees are unemployable because they lack innovation and creative thinking. This system needs to be changed.
