Poem: The Lamp Guy

It’s a common theme now,

The normal is beyond comprehension.

The guy with the lamp said,

You can survive by covering your mouth, ears and eyes.

In my mind’s eye, I am picturing,

Zombies, mummies and what not.

What about you?

I asked the toad faced guide.

Why are you covering your mouth, ears and eyes?

You promised to be different than the guy who promised Neverland.

At this rate, we will never reach north by nightfall,

The toad faced guy shrugged.

And, replied with disdain,

Don’t question my sense of direction.

My silence has been my weapon,

And, I hear best when I don’t listen.

I can see it all when I see nothing at all,

Remember girl, I am the guy with the lamp you’re following.

Who cares where we are heading?

As long as am carrying the lamp.

You have my permission to remain dumb, deaf and blind.
