#MyPeriodStory: Red Is The Warmest Color

I’m from a conservative family down south. We were quarantined 3 days a month in accordance to the “Untouchable” rule. I never knew it would come to me when i was small. My mother told that it was considered as a complete resting time. One day, I saw my mother cutting vegetables when she was quarantined during periods. (For breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

As a kid, I asked her “How can you cut the vegetables when you are not supposed to touch anything?”

She said, “These can be washed and thus will be fit to use”.

“How is this considered a complete rest when you do all these chores?”, I asked.

I’m 26 now. She doesn’t have an answer till date. Since I’m married my mother was asking about good news if any. The conversation made me think of a baby girl and her periods.

So I said, “I want my mother and my mother-in-law not to follow the untouchable quarantine rule when my baby girl bleeds. After all, it is because of the regular periods, any women can nail the opportunity to become a mother.”

When we can celebrate the birth, why not the bleed????
