On Sunday evening, Vijay Kumar, who works as a security guard at Delhi’s Guru Tegh Bahadur hospital, was assaulted by his neighbour for allegedly spreading COVID-19 when he was doing exercise on the roof of his house located in north-east Delhi.
The accused Vikas, who attacked Vijay, barged into his home with some goons and hit him brutally with bricks. Moreover, Vijay has a roof adjacent to Vikas.
As per reports, the victim has suffered grave injuries and multiple stitches in the head, but is said to be out of the danger zone and has been discharged from hospital.
According to the police, Vijay was thrashed and accused of spreading COVID-19 by his neighbour. DCP North East Delhi, Ved Prakash Sirya, said, “We have arrested the 24-year-old accused, Vikas. An FIR has also been filed against the accused.”
Kumar resides in north-east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar with his family and has been working at GTB hospital for three years.
Vijay Kumar told the police that Vikas asked him where he worked, to which he replied that he has been posted as a security guard at GTB hospital. Then Vikas thrashed him by saying he will spread the coronavirus as he works at a ‘corona hospital’.
Meanwhile, the 24-year old college student, Vikas has been given bail. He said, “While Kumar was exercising, he was leaning against my terrace wall and risking its safety. When I told him to be careful, he threatened to infect me and get me admitted to the COVID ward of the hospital.”
