EMPATHY IS THE NEW ‘HOW ARE YOU’?

EMPATHY is the
NEW HOW ARE YOU?

Dear Colleagues,
The Pandemic has brought us all to an absolute overwhelming social stand still.
The Lockdown can be actually used literally, as well as socially, psychologically and emotionally.
Life is limping, tripping, trying to lift it’s head up to face a microscopic enemy virus. Sadly, failing miserably as of now.
Fatigue, frustration and above all fear has gripped the minds of humans. We are all scared of our life and for our near and dear ones.
Under such human crisis EMPATHY and COMPASSION are the only two feelings that ought to be harboured, nurtured and shared.
Of all the professions, teaching has been hit under the belt as there is a complete paradigm shift in the concept of knowledge sharing.
Unlike the days of the recent past, the human presence played a significant role with very little additions to it’s conservative classroom teaching whereas in four months time the concept, idea, execution, delivery, reception and response for teachers and teaching has undergone a sea change.
In the process we as teachers, no matter how skilled or knowledgeable we might be; how good we might be with our fingers, we fall prey to typo, the nervous system does numb, these are human errors. Children too are also been chagrined with screen foraging whole day.. never seen young souls so heavily ladened.
Digital and screen bullying is rampant. No one spares anyone..
Digital space gives access to bullies at different levels.
Let’s not find fault, yes, I understand we are teachers, we ought to be PERFECT TO THE T, but then human errors can be rectified but not human damage.
Let’s offer courtesies and compassion , let’s greet and care with compassion.
If we at all need to rectify or correct another, please be nice and tender..
How do we know, or do we bother to know, who is weeping behind their smile? Who is struggling to hold on to their jobs because that is her only source of self expression?
These are dark days, we can love ourselves and spread cheer amongst people we are still alive to interact with..
Let COMPASSION AND EMPATHY BE THE NEW GOOD MORNING!
