peace has a better chance with Higher economic interdependence, not lower

It’s truly saddening to see how rational reactions to Chinese ambition is slowing evolving into mass hysteria. No, we do not need to “put a roof over our Chinese dreams”, as the Economic Times had written. It’s not necessary, what we need is greater trust and I agree that this will not come by with how China right now is behaving, and they would also need to make efforts so that we can trust them.

However, they’re clearly pulling back at the border now and it should be a month before they’ve completely withdrawn.

It’s important for us then, to eat up our anger and keep caution, yes caution is all but necessary but at the same time the restrictions that were imposed to get them to stop would need to go.

The whole point of imposing them was to get China to stop, and now that that’s been achieved, it would be prudent of us to see which restrictions can be repealed.

I would be greatly in favour of removing the ban on TikTok by December.

We need greater investment and trade from China and that’s because that would improve our chances of maintaining peace far more than what having no trade or investment from China will.

An example being the North and South of Korea. They have little economic flows, and we see how belligerent things get. So, let’s aim for more trade. Cutting China out will greatly harm us.
