The Dirty Secret To Success : Beauty

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Then why is this beauty is attached with fairness? Why everywhere in our country, fair skin is crammed into our mind instead of beauty? Who has told you that “fair is beautiful“? If there is no black then what is the significance of white? Black is as elegant as white! So tan is equally important as fair.

So why do we get judgemental with the skin tone of a lady? Like racism, colourism is also ruling predominantly in our society, since the British Raj. Many campaigns and propaganda are shared by influential people and public-figures like Nandita Das, Bobby Deol. The fairness company and beauty products are nonchalantly shattering the willpower of dark-skinned women since ages.

True Beauty Isn’t About Looks

No movement is raising awareness against their prejudice towards colour and skin tone. For this biased society, so many women who are not light in their skin tone, are forced to hide their beauty and happiness behind a shadow! How many endorsements have enlightened the theme of elegance and charm? Beauty must not depend upon looks. It depends on the confidence that you carry.

Fairness is just an add on to our external appearance. Fairness can never be a symbol of completeness and elegance of a lady. Instead of glorifying the idea of a lighter skin tone, we should celebrate our life with a healthy mindset. A healthy diet tapped into positivity is the need of the hour.  The call of the society is to specify success in terms of achievement and talents. Fairness can never be a scale of success. It is just a skin tone.

People from different continents differ from each other in their respective colours. It is because of their geographical differences and climate changes. It has nothing to do with their own calibre. Success should be measured in the scale of personal talents.            The African woman is endowed with a rich dark skin tone; whereas the Americans are embedded with dazzling white skin tone.

We the Indians are mostly featured in our silvery, pale colours or brown as copper and shining. So one should be proud of their skin tone. But in our regressive, colour-conscious society, we always chase behind fair colours. By dabbing some powder or fairness cream; we pretend to be a person whom we can’t relate mentally! Like all the heroines who always bathe in fairness gels, we dream of an imaginary, elusive world of fantasy!

Even marriage is based on beauty in our society! Why? This discrimination will one day swallow us whole with our hypocrisy! Still, there is enough time. Please come out of this illusion. Love yourself! Real beauty lies in your soul. Please try to relate to it with an open mind and free spirit.
