The restrictions are to deter China’s Behaviour; Protectionism in itself is horrible!

I voiced support for the nearly ten restrictions imposed on Chinese services and businesses as I believed they were imposed fairly and would induce China to stop the border war.

I still have hope and some faith in that this will work.

Sadly, this occasion is now being used as a time to push through the protectionist pet projects of many ministers including the Prime Minister.

The restrictions are to deter China and when the conflict ends — it’s only fair that they be repealed and the rights of Chinese firms to do business with locals be restored.

I know the Prime Minister loves protectionism and hates to see a local firm be out-done in its own game. This “pride” is understandable and the desire to want globally competitive firms is something the PM has made clear. However, shielding local firms through bans/tariffs tramples on the rights of and hurts the consumer.

I will only hope that these bans will go when the conflict is over. I really hope.
