Uprooting the roots

We, you and I have been here,
Since the beginning of sphere.

But you immigrated,
Calling us primitive, you separated.

Today you’ve turned against us,
Giving us names-‘poachers’, ‘encroachers’.

I thought you knew,
We only took very little of what nature grew.

More trees we planted, more soil was retained.

The rest was all maintained.

Driving us out, leaving us with no shelter,
Is that going to make you feel better?

What did we do wrong?

We only refused to leave,
Because in cities it didn’t feel belonged.

What good are you going to do to our homes anyway?

Stamp the weak, torture the poor and sway?

Listen to your deeds shameless!

Since when have you become so spineless ?

You and I share the same blood,
You and I were born in the same mud

Don’t push me away, I pray.

Lend me your hand,
Help me stand.

Let us all live in union, in peace
Like how your Creator would have wanted it to be.
