Western influence on indian society change and continuity.

Traditions will define a belief system. The passing down from generation to generation of beliefs, laws, doctriand customs that help that group make sense of their world and customs. This continuity gives social stability.

India society has been a traditional society throughout untill the advent of modern ideas. Prpcess of modernization in term of culture and technology started with the contact with modern west. 

Western culture influenced the indian culture with the ideas of rationalism,  individualism or utilitarianism. The Indian society influenced was traditionally hierarchical which get influenced by thoughts of egalitarianism, secularism and universalism.

Introduction of new and advanced means of transport and communication contributed to increase in social and spatial mobility. 

Before independence Britishers introduced  the principles of uniform legal system, it ensured equality before law it all. The country was treated as one single political unit, which give rise to the concept of nationalism.

After independence india emphasized on the principles of democracy,  equality, liberty,  peace, universal adult franchise and gender equality. 

A process of social change resulting from the diffusion and adoption of the characteristics of expansive and apparently more advanced through societies that are apparently less advanced.
