Although there is such reverence and I might even say mob-rule of sorts around Narendra Modi, with some person ending up in a cell or with a lost job for criticising the current Prime Minister and I’m not saying that he endorses this, and might actually be quite powerless to stop these owing to how murky and Not-Checks-and-Balancing the Constitution is.
I however feel, that the Prime Minister is sorta okay (and quite good actually considering the little change he can bring due to not holding the Upper House) at administrative problems, however the country is at a stage now where economic growth cannot be expected by haphazard growth of the informal economy and all the underhand secrecy of it.
There is a real need to demolish the lack of oversight that allows this. Then there also is the need to break open the locked doors which are the barriers to economic freedom — this includes trade, investment and financial freedom.
Tariffs, foreign investment barriers and lack of a sound banking system are examples of them each. Thus, there is a need for a person who understand this, knows its importance and has the willingness to act to change these; at the post of Prime Minister.
My gut says that the soft-spoken, sometimes quiet but calm and direct demeanour-wise individual of Piyush Goyal would do great good as Prime Minister. His management capacities have been tested and I think he has the tolerance and willingness to lend an open ear which will keep him an agile and active doer.
We have the fact that the current PM can be a protectionist and there is a crying need for one who can openly vow a No for that idea.
So I thus believe that I would like Piyush Goyal to be my Prime Minister when arrives 2024. (Yes, I haven’t given up my passport like Sis n Mum, and it would be foolish of me as my plans and dreams are only possible by me retaining my citizenship. Good on my Sis and Mum too cuz they love South Australia, my sister has found someone she likes here and my Mum looks forward to a cozy retirement. So, I don’t blame.)
